Head of School

Shanna Honan is an experienced Montessori teacher whose life and background are firmly rooted in the Montessori principles. Shanna has taught in public and private Montessori Schools since 1990. She holds a National Center for Montessori Education (NCME) certification for preschool (ages 3-6) and an elementary certification (ages 6-12) from the American Montessori Society (AMS). Shanna is a certified teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Education. Shanna has been a Montessori teacher trainer with AMS affiliated programs since 1996.

Assistant Head of School and Director, Children's School

Bella Harris has been a teacher for 15 years in both public and private schools. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and a Master of Education degree from The University of Virginia. Bella is a certified teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has worked at Chesapeake Montessori School since 2002 and holds Montessori certification for preschool.

Faculty

Chesapeake Montessori School is a Full Affiliate with the American Montessori Society. This means all of our lead teachers hold a Montessori certification from a recognized and accredited teacher education program. The faculty and staff at CMS are highly qualified and experienced. They are dedicated to respecting children and the Montessori Method of Education.
